Description: Direct bonding – when done correctly – is truly the most impactful treatment that a dentist can provide for a patient. However, material selection can be a stressful experience – the results can be unpredictable and esthetically unacceptable. Proper shade selection, preparation, finishing and polishing are critical to the final result.
Our “live patient” demonstrations are designed to improve your skills. A step-by-step procedural approach to solving daily anterior challenges will be presented, enabling you to create natural esthetics that are sure to be appreciated by your patients and garner higher case acceptance.
Clinicians participating in the “live patient” demonstrations are required to complete Hope Dental Clinic’s volunteer processing which includes a background check, volunteer application submission and providing a copy of your current liability insurance certificate. Surgical gowns and PPE will be provided for use. Clinicians should bring loops if they are planning on hands-on participation.
Course Objectives:
- Use our step-by-step approach to learn how to prepare teeth properly with superior engineering principles
- Understand proper composite systems and injection molding techniques
- Explore various finishing and polishing techniques to create natural esthetics
- Increase your competence and confidence, resulting in higher case acceptance
Featured Clinician and Educator: Frank J. Milnar DDS, AAACD
Frank J. Milnar is a graduate from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry in 1976. He is an Accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Board Examiner for Accreditation and Diplomat of the American Board of Cosmetic and Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Milnar maintains a full-time practice in St. Paul, Minnesota emphasizing Minimally Invasive and appearance related dentistry. He has published over 50 peer reviewed articles about the direct placement of composites, shade selection and porcelain materials and is on editorial review boards for dental journals.
Dr. Milnar is co-founder of the Minnesota Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has lectured extensively within the US Armed Forces as well as internationally on the subject of direct composite restorations, shade selection and porcelain materials.
He has been voted “Top Dentist” and voted into the “Top Dentist Hall of Fame” for the last five years by his peers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine. He has been voted by Dentistry Today as one of the top 100 dentists contributing to dental education. Most recently, Dr. Milnar was nominated to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Continuing Education Advisory Board and is a Visiting Faculty Member for BIOCLEAR Learning Center.
